Last week, Sony announced the launch of the Xperia Z4 flagship smartphone silently for the Japanese market. At the time of unveiling, the firm did not reveal anything about the global availability of the device, but now it is likely that the Xperia Z4 will be launched as Xperia Z3+ in the global markets.

This information cited by a report is in line with those that claimed that the Xperia Z4 is not the firm’s 2015 flagship smartphone for the global markets. There were speculations that the real flagship smartphone will be launched by the end of the next month.

The Xperia Z4 is a minor upgrade to the Xperia Z3 and it has almost similar specifications as the yesteryear flagship model apart from employing a different processor and front facing snapper. The name Xperia Z3+ comes from the Cover Window accessory that was spotted by a Russian website claiming that the accessory will support Xperia Z4/Z3+.

While the Xperia Z3+ will pack identical specifications and design as the Xperia Z4, the pricing and availability details of the device outside Japan is not yet official. Eventually, the Xperia Z4 sports a 5.2 inch Full HD 1080p Triluminos display and employs a 64 bit octa core Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of native storage that can be expanded up to 128 GB.

The Xperia Z4 comes with a 20.7 MP main snapper at its back and a 5.1 MP front facing selfie shooter. The device runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS and has IPX5/IPX8 certification for water resistance and IP6X certification for dust resistance. It is energized by a 2,930 mAh battery that operates under its hood.
