As far as the Sony Xperia brand is concerned, most of the thunder has been stolen by the Xperia T a.k.a the Bond phone, which is all set to feature in the upcoming espionage flick- Skyfall. Amidst all the hype that surrounds the Bond phone, there is another device coming from the same stable, the sony Xperia V.

The Xperia V is a slightly toned down version of the Xperia T, is an LTE-capable handset, that is also – hold your breath- waterproof. As a matter of fact, Sony claims that the Xperia V offers the highest level of water resistance among all currently available smartphones!

While Sony has been officially quite coy about release dates and pricing for this beauty, Sony Italy’s official twitter account has been a little more forthright in revealing that the Xperia V will be priced in the €400 -500 range in its SIM-free avatar. The flip side is that the 4.3 inch Ice Cream Sandwich powered beaut will only be available “later this year”, a timeline, which over the years we have all come to know as anywhere between tomorrow till the end of the year, and that is a really long almost 3-month timeframe.

The Xperia V sports a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen HD display (720 x 1280 pixels) with the BRAVIA Engine 2 and features scratch-resistant glass coating, dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM.

Another strong point of the smartphone is the impressive 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. It also features a whopping 13.3 MP camera capable of Full HD (1080p)  video recording.

For those specs, it does sound like a sweet price point, but there is no confirmation yet from Sony on either the pricing, or the release date. In any case, the Xperia V does seem to be a winner. What do you think?
