There’s a new Xperia device coming, and it might set a precedent by not having the round Sony Ericsson orb logo on the back, something which has been present on every Sony device. Called the Xperia J, a few photos of the back of the device have emerged, showing it off in a total of 3 colours: pink, white and black.
The Xperia J is supposed to have a 4-inch display with a FWVGA resolution of 480×854, a 1GHz single-core processor (MSM7627A chipset), will be launching with Android 4.0.4 out of the box, and is expected to have a 5 megapixel camera on the back. It should also come in at least three different colours for the back cover as can be seen from the pictures, though with an ‘acceptance unit’ tag on two of them, that might not turn out to be true. Earlier leaks of the device also suggest that the front will be graced by a camera as well for video calls, as well as three capacitive buttons at the bottom (which we hope follow the Android 4.0 layout of a home, back and multitasking button).
The Xperia J seems to have quite a modest set of specs by today’s standards (specially the processor), so it remains to be seen how Sony prices it, considering dual-core Xperia devices like the Xperia U are being sold at mid-range prices these days. As for the release date of the phone, we’ll let you know as soon as we hear something. Stay tuned.
