Earlier this week, Sony announced a promising new mid-range phone, Xperia E4. And even before we could sit and speculate its availability dates, the device has already gone up for pre-orders over at Clove UK.
Priced £100, the Xperia E4 packs budget hardware which includes a 5 inch qHD display (960×540), 1.3GHz quad-core processor (MediaTek, probably), 1GB RAM, 5MP rear camera, 2300mAh battery capable of giving a 2 day run.
As per the official announcement, the device was told to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop. However, the device will be coming with Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box and will get the Lollipop update later as Clove has listed the device with the former version of Android.
Sony Xperia E4 makes a good entry for Sony to battle the budget smartphone market, however, the kind of devices Xiaomi, Micromax and other such manufacturers are putting on show offer far more capable hardware. But still, if we talk about the major manufacturers like Samsung, HTC and others; Sony clearly wins the ground with Xperia E4.
Along with Clove, Expansys is also taking pre-orders for the Xperia E4 but haven’t yet listed the price for the same. By all means, it seems the phone is coming to UK first. But being a budget phone, it shouldn’t take much time for it to release in India and other developing countries.
