Sony has announced the sequel to the Xperia A2 smartphone in the Japanese market. The smartphone is named Xperia A4 and it will be released via the carrier NTT Docomo. As the other devices in the A lineup, this one might also be restricted only to the Japanese market. The firm will release a similar device under the Z lineup for the global markets.

The Xperia A4 smartphone boasts of a 4.6 inch display with a HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The device runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system and it is energized by a 2.5 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. There is 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of default memory capacity onboard the Sony Xperia A4.

For imaging, the Sony smartphone features a 20.7 MP main snapper with LED flash and a 2 MP front facing camera for video conferencing and clicking selfies. The device is dust and water resistant and it is given the usual set of connectivity aspects such as 4G LTE and Wi-Fi.

The Xperia A4 will be released in a slew of four color options in mid June. The Xperia Z4 as well as Z4 Tablet have been launched with the telecom operator NTT Docomo. These devices will be available to the users in July.
