I choose you Pikachu! That’s right, Sony has an interesting device in the wraps and it’s aptly named the Sony Pikachu. We’re not really sure how the device looks, but the smartphone has turned up on GFXbench and we can piece together an overall idea of the internals of this device.
The Sony Pikachu seems to be a mid ranger, sporting a 720p 5-inch display, an octa-core MediaTek MT6757 chipset clocked at 2.3GHz, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of on board storage.

The catch here (erm… no pun intended) is that the smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. At least based on the GFXbench listing, we can confirm the same. Does this mean that OEMs have slowly started phasing out Marshmallow and moving on to shipping devices with Nougat?
Well, if anybody should be noticing what Sony is doing, it should be Samsung first and foremost to take a leaf out of Sony’s book, considering that they’re still sticking to Marshmallow in their latest devices.
