Lesser-known Chinese OEM Smartisan launched its Smartisan Nut Pro smartphone running Smartisan 3.6 UI in China last month featuring two colors, Carbon Black and Wine Red. Smartisan has decided that colors are like friends (the more the merrier), so the manufacturer will now bring two new colors to the Smartisan Nut Pro: White and Brown.
The Smartisan Nut Pro is getting these two new colors, but its specs remain unchanged: a 5.5-inch, Full HD display (1920 x 1080p resolution), Qualcomm Snapdragon 625/626 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB/128GB storage variants, 8MP front camera (32GB variant)/16MP front camera (64GB/128GB storage variants), 13MP+13MP dual rear camera combo with f/2.0 apertures and phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and a 3,500mAh battery (Quick Charge 3.0) with Smartisan’s own Smartisan OS 3.6 update pre-installed.
Within a week of its Smartisan Nut Pro announcement, the Chinese company from which the Nut Pro was named has updated the platform to Smartisan OS version 3.6.2.
The Smartisan Nut Pro doesn’t have the latest high-end SoC from Qualcomm, but its 4GB of RAM, dual rear camera setup, phase detection autofocus, storage variants, and beefy battery make this phone seem unbelievable at this price point. Chinese OEMs are churning out affordable flagships in abundance these days and are responsible for Samsung’s market share and profit dive 60% in Q1 2017.
With the introduction of three storage variants, Smartisan has given all three colors to the 128GB variant (Carbon Black, Wine Red, and Thin Red), two colors to the 64GB variant (Carbon Black and Wine Red), and only one color to the 32GB variant (Carbon Black). We don’t know if the new White or Cream and Brown colors will make their way to every storage variant, so stay tuned for more details.
