Smartisan, a lesser known Chinese brand, has come up with a new smartphone named Nut Pro. The mid-range phone has been released in China at an event yesterday with the launch of Smartisan’s new OS versions 3.6/3.7.

Smartisan Nut Pro comes in three storage versions — 32GB, 64GB and 128GB with 4GB RAM. And the price also differs for the three variants. The Smartisan Nut Pro 32GB carries a price tag of 1499 Yuan ($217) while the 64GB version is priced at 1799 Yuan ($260) and finally the highest 128GB model cost is 2299 Yuan ($333).

The phone comes in two color options viz Carbon Black and Red Wine in addition to a Thin Red Line Special Edition. Now, the base model of the phone with 32GB ROM is only available in Carbon Black while the 64GB version is available in Carbon Black and Red Wine. The premium 128GB variant will be sold in all the three colors.

Smartisan Nut Pro has a metal and glass body with 5.5-inch FHD display which is powered by a Snapdragon 625/Snapdragon 626 processor. The phone houses rear dual cameras with 13MP+13MP resolution, f/2.0 aperture and PDAF while the selfie camera for the 32GB variant is of 8MP resolution. This varies in the 64GB and 128GB variants which feature a 16MP selfie snapper. There’s a 3500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. support to keep the juices flowing.

Other features include a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button, dual hybrid SIM tray, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC (only on the 128GB version). The phone runs company’s own Smartisan 3.6 which was showcased along side the phone’s release.

The new OS introduces a bunch of new features with enhanced UX. These include optical character recognition (OCR) support and quick record feature. While the former comes in handy when copying information from business cards the latter lets you take down voice notes by holding down the home button.
