Team Cherry has updated Silksong with Patch 1.0.28891, the third major update since launch. Players are advised to update their game now to fix bugs, get better control support, balance adjustments, and more! Here are all the major updates in the new patch (now live).

Controller improvements take center stage

The most significant changes in patch 1.0.28891 focus on controller functionality. The update adds full support for Sony's DualSense Edge controller, the premium PS5 wireless controller featuring mappable back buttons and customizable layouts.

Mac users receive enhanced controller compatibility across various input devices, resolving compatibility issues that had plagued the platform since launch. The update also introduces automatic game pausing when controllers disconnect.

Team Cherry promises additional controller fixes in future updates, indicating this patch represents the first phase of broader input improvements.

Extensive gameplay and progression fixes

Version 1.0.28891 addresses numerous gameplay issues that had affected player progression and combat flow. The patch resolves instances where players could become permanently stuck with curse effects in late-game areas, a problem that had forced some players to restart their runs.

Combat improvements include fixes for the Curveclaw enemy not responding to Hunter down-stab attacks and rare instances where players could air dash and double jump unintentionally. The update also corrects several out-of-bounds situations that allowed players to escape intended game areas.

Boss encounter stability receives attention with fixes for Crust King Khann falling out of bounds during entry on low-end systems and Second Sentinel becoming rotated when defeated. The notorious Seth boss receives multiple corrections, including cases where it could escape bounds and remain invincible during refights.

Balance adjustments and item refinements

While maintaining the core difficulty that defines the Silksong experience, patch 1.0.28891 introduces targeted balance changes to specific abilities. Sharp Dart and Cross Stitch receive slight damage increases, while Rune Rage damage scaling now matches other Silk Skills for consistency.

The update reduces Thread Storm damage at higher needle levels, addressing community concerns about the ability being overpowered in late-game encounters. This change primarily affects experienced players who have progressed deep into the skill tree.

Item mechanics see refinement with Fine Pins wish drops changing from a 50% chance to guaranteed 100% drops, though the required quantity increases to maintain balance. The patch also fixes Crafting Kits not properly increasing damage for offensive blue tools like the Sawtooth Circlet.

Technical stability and quality improvements

Beyond gameplay fixes, the update addresses various technical issues that had impacted player experience. Problems with Cogflies appearing from incorrect locations after scene transitions and having their active quantity reduced are now resolved.

The patch fixes issues with consuming Silkeater items while in water and corrects Scuttlebrace sometimes allowing unintended wall jumps. A significant soft-lock during the Grand Gate opening sequence, occurring when the Citadel had been visited with inactive bellshrines, receives correction.

Various smaller fixes and tweaks accompany these major corrections, contributing to overall game stability and polish.
