Eva is one of the most rewarding NPCs in Silksong, but reaching her and unlocking everything she offers takes careful preparation. From defeating key bosses to gathering Crests and Memory Lockets, every step builds toward her final gift, Sylphsong.

Where to find Eva and begin upgrades

Eva is located in Weavenest Atla, a region accessed by using the Needolin ability to open a locked door within Moss Grotto.

Once inside, progressing through Weavenest Atla and restoring power to the area leads to Eva's chamber.

After first meeting Eva and listening to her offer, players unlock the first upgrade, the Evolved Hunter Crest.

Requirements for each Eva upgrade

The Eva upgrades mainly depend on the total number of tool slots available from non-Hunter crests, unlocked through Memory Lockets:

Upgrade Name Effect What you need to do to unlock it
Hunter Crest – “Allow Insight” (Evolved Hunter Crest Part 1) Gives the Hunter Crest extra effect: after striking enemies repeatedly, you build focus, and needle attacks become stronger while focused. First talk to Eva. Prerequisites: have access to Eva’s location (Weavenest Atla). You need certain abilities (like Needolin) to reach her.
Vesticrest (Yellow tool slot) Gives you an extra yellow permanent tool slot (independent of which Crest is equipped). Use Memory Lockets to unlock tool slots in Crests (enough so that one Crest has all its yellow slots unlocked). Eva rewards this when you’ve used a certain number of Memory Lockets.
Vesticrest (Blue tool slot) Similar to the yellow one, but adds a blue permanent tool slot. Use even more Memory Lockets (unlocking many slots across Crests), also possibly having a minimum number of Crests acquired.
Hunter Crest – “Evolve further” (Part 2) Enhances the Hunter Crest lineage even more: further improvement to focus/needle attack enhancements. You must have used more Memory Lockets (unlock more tool slots), plus earlier Eva upgrades.
Sylphsong Ancestral Art (Bind Eva / final reward) When bound, gives you an ability that regenerates Silk to full at benches. It’s a powerful late-game upgrade. You need all the Crests, and have used essentially every Memory Locket possible to open tool-slots across those Crests. Then talk to Eva after fulfilling earlier upgrades. Binding Eva becomes available.

How to acquire crests and open tool slots

There are several crests collectible across Acts 1 and 2 (and some in Act 3). Crests start with a base number of tool slots, and more slots can be unlocked by investing Memory Lockets:

  • Act 1 Crests include Wanderer, Reaper, and Beast, which start with 3-4 slots each.
  • Memory Lockets are consumables found throughout Pharloom used to unlock additional slots in crests.
  • Players need to accumulate at least 18 Memory Lockets to meet all slot unlocking demands.
  • After unlocking all five non-Hunter crests available in Acts 1 and 2 fully (and optionally the Shaman crest in Act 3), the total slots meet the highest requirement for the final Sylphsong upgrade.

How to get all Eva’s upgrades

Use the following steps as a guideline:

Step 1: Talk to Eva first time

Interact with Eva once you reach her. That gives you the first Hunter Crest evolution.

Step 2: Collect and use Memory Lockets, unlock tool slots in Crests
  • Acquire Crests as you progress.
  • Find Memory Locket fragments, legit acquire & use them to unlock tool-slots in Crests.
  • To get the Yellow Vesticrest: unlock all yellow slots on one Crest (or unlock sufficiently many slots so that Eva grants the yellow slot reward).
Step 3: Continue unlocking slots & acquiring Crests

Use more Memory Lockets across multiple Crests to unlock many tool slots—not just the yellow ones, but blue, etc. Make sure you have enough Crests.

Step 4: Return to Eva to get Vesticrest (Blue slot) and second Hunter Crest upgrade

As soon as you’ve used enough Memory Lockets (beyond what you needed for the first two upgrades) and met the Crest count requirement, return to Eva. She’ll offer the blue slot Vesticrest and the further Hunter Crest evolution.

Step 5: Bind Eva (final reward, Sylphsong)

Once you have:

  • All Crests in the game,
  • Used nearly all (or a required large number of) Memory Lockets to unlock tool slots in those Crests,
  • Received all earlier Eva upgrades,

...then talking to Eva gives you the option to “Bind Eva,” unlocking the Sylphsong Ancestral Art (Silk regen at benches).

Unlocking all 5 Eva upgrades is a multi-step process involving boss fights for key abilities, gathering multiple crests, strategically unlocking their tool slots with Memory Lockets, and repeatedly engaging with Eva in Weavenest Atla. Fulfilling the increasing slot count requirements rewards Hornet with enhanced combat and utility powers crucial for mastering Pharloom.
