Silent Hill f has 5 endings. Each ending sheds light on Hinako’s relationship with the Fox Mask and her own autonomy over her destiny. The most rewarding and hopeful is known as “Ebisugaoka in Silence,” often called the true or best ending.
Why “Ebisugaoka in Silence” is considered the best ending
The Ebisugaoka in Silence ending resolves Hinako’s journey with reconciliation and self-agency. Instead of being trapped by others’ expectations or punished by her fate, she embraces both sides of her identity and chooses to live on her own terms.
This contrasts with other endings, which often emphasize tragedy, subjugation, or incomplete closure. Fans and critics view this path as the most emotionally rewarding and thematically consistent, making it the de facto “true” ending of Silent Hill f.

How to unlock the true ending (Ebisugaoka in Silence)
Step 1: Complete the first playthrough
Your first ending will always be Coming Home to Roost, setting up the story’s framework.
Step 2: Start New Game Plus (NG+)
Only in NG+ can alternate endings be accessed.

Step 3: Avoid Red Capsules
Using even one Red Capsule disqualifies you from the full endings.

Step 4: Acquire and purify the Sacred Sword
- Locate five Jizo statues during different Ebisugaoka visits and make offerings.
- This unlocks the Sacred Sword.
- Purify it by solving the Crimson Waters puzzle in the Hermitage of Crimson Water using the Fox Brooch.

Step 5: Complete at least two other full endings
Before the true ending is available, finish any two non-joke endings (Fox’s Wedding, The Fox Wets Its Tail, or Coming Home to Roost).
Step 6: Offer the Fox Brooch to the Ancient Jizo
On the final return to Ebisugaoka, present the brooch to the Ancient Jizo statue located southwest of Hinako’s home on the mountain path.

If all conditions are met, the game will unlock the Ebisugaoka in Silence ending.
How the endings compare
| Ending | When Available | Conditions | Tone / Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coming Home to Roost | First playthrough only | Automatic | Dark, tragic; introduces core conflict |
| Fox’s Wedding | NG+ | No Red Capsules; Sacred Sword optional; collect Agura no Hotei-Sama | Acceptance of external control at cost of self |
| The Fox Wets Its Tail | NG+ | No Red Capsules; obtain but don’t purify Sacred Sword | Assertive but unresolved, conflict-driven |
| Ebisugaoka in Silence | NG+ after two full endings | No Red Capsules; purify Sacred Sword; offer Fox Brooch at Ancient Jizo statue | Reconciliation, self-realization, true closure |
| The Great Space Invasion! (UFO) | NG+ | Collect UFO posters, listen to radio broadcasts, read movie review | Humorous, non-canonical joke ending |
Still, “best” is subjective. Some prefer more tragic or ambiguous conclusions. But from a storytelling perspective, Ebisugaoka in Silence delivers the fullest emotional payoff.
