This seems to be the period of calm before the storm as we see many major smartphone manufacturers rushing their devices through various benchmark and certification tests.
After the HTC H7 — which received its bluetooth certification only recently — we have just spotted a Samsung device hidden deep within Geekbench’s under test database.
The device which is operating under the alias of CHOPIN-LTE for now, went under the knife multiple times over at Geekbench’s scoring an impressive 1005 points in the single-core test and 3425 points in the multi-core test — which incidentally, smacks of something high-end.
The specifications that we did manage to lay our hands on, all point towards something similar. The device packs 4 GB of RAM and runs on the latest Android 5.1. You also get intel’s latest Atom x5-Z8500 processor which boasts 8th generation Intel graphics along with four cores roaring at 2.24GHz.
The chipset has been manufactured using the 14 nm Cherry Trail platform and for all we know, the device may perform even better later — considering the fact that manufacturers sometimes hitch their devices up with larger pixels than they actually are meant for.
To put things in perspective, the device performance that we saw until now suggests something similar to the Galaxy Note 4 giving strength to rumors of the Tab S2 hidden under the wraps — but again, that’s just hearsay. Be that as may, the one thing we can be sure of is something pretty awesome, lets just keep our fingers crossed.
More on it as we get it.
