According to an email that an XDA member received from the Galaxy Beta Program team, the Galaxy S7 will be getting Android 7.0 Nougat update, not Android 7.1.1. This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about this, but it further confirms the speculations.
At first, it was believed that Samsung delayed the Android N release so they can work on Android 7.1.1 for the S7 and S7 Edge. However, several leaks suggested later that the Android N version is indeed 7.0 and not the latest 7.1.1. Perhaps the 7.1.1 release will come at a later date.
The latest report suggests that Samsung will release the Android 7.0 update for Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge on January 17. The Android 7.0 version has also been confirmed for the Australia and U.S Galaxy S7 variants.
As the email reads, the official software is being tested internally and should be released very soon. For now, it looks like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will get the Android 7.0 update first, followed by the Android 7.1.1 update sometime in the future.
