Samsung has released the January patch for the new Galaxy A3 2017,  the Galaxy J7 Prime and the J7 2016. The A3 2017 model isn’t yet available for purchase, but the firmware with January patch is already hitting web.

The software updates for these devices will install the latest January security patch. Therefore, the updates must definitely be installed as they will keep your smartphone safer. The Galaxy A3 2017 software update version is A320YDXU1AQA1, but it’s not out yet.

The software version for the Galaxy J7 Prime is G610FDDU1AQA1 and the J7 2016 is J7108ZHU1BPL6 . Also, it’s the Chinese variant of Galaxy J7 2016 that’s in for the update, as the firmware is for model no. J7108, a Chinese one. If you’re seeing the update notification, you should probably download it right away.

Before you install the update, make sure your smartphone is sufficiently charged and is connected to a strong WiFi or Cellular network.

Samsung is in the midst of releasing Galaxy A series worldwide, while right now, the Galaxy A5 and A7 2017 are available on pre-order in Malaysia, up to January 22.

Even though Samsung Nougat update is under rollout now — it began only yesterday for the Galaxy S7 — it would take Samsung some time to make the Android 7.0 update available for Galaxy J7 2016 and Galaxy J7 Prime, while the Galaxy A5 2017 could get it by March 2017-end. Meanwhile, Lineage OS could come to rescue, we hope!
