Samsung Intercept coming on July 21 with Sprint. Goodbye to ‘Moment’

Samsung is really busy rocking the world with its smart phones, nearly all of them running Android. The Company launched its best android phone in the form of Galaxy S in UK, Korea, India etc and is readying it for US too, as Samsung Vibrant with T-Mobile on July 21 and Samsung Captivate with AT&T, in coming months. If that’s about Galaxy S, the PRO Version  of the phone deserves mention too. Codenamed as Samsung EPIC, it’s headed to Sprint with features like QWERTY Keyboard and 4G compatibility. Whoa!

Now we hear that there is another Samsung device that’s making headlines. No it’s not Galaxy 3 / Apollo, but it’s the successor to Samsung Moment we are talking about. And going by that, it will be 4 row QWERTY keyboard boasting phone with 3.2 inch TFT touch screen, Android 2.1 (said to be scheduled for Android 2.2) and Bluetooth 2.1.

This phone will be known as Samsung Intercept and will obviously be headed to Sprint. Yes, it will be another upcoming Samsung Android phone to watch at Sprint after Samsung EPIC, a 4G phone with full QWERTY keyboard and same to Galaxy S feature-wise.

The phone has been codenamed as SPH-910 which follows from the Samsung Moment’s codename, SPH-900. One can expect Wi-Fi, GPS (hopefully, A-GPS), micro SD card slot and an improved camera.

Yeah… we got rumored released date too, it’s July 11, not very far. Expect an official announcement soon from Sprint/Samsung.

As can be noticed from the screen shots, it should be available in at least two colors, Black and Pink (for men and women respectively).

Anybody up for it?

  1. Would be more interested in Sprint or Samsung could release some pre-release specs. While Epic sounds the obvious choice, I’m holding out to see what the phone’s processor speed is, and test drive it against the Epic in the stores. Pictures alone and saying it’s improved over the Moment still is vague.

    1. EPIC’s surely way better than Intercept. After all, EPIC got 4G with front facing camera, Super AMOLED display and ruthless 1Ghz ‘Hummingbird’ Processor from Samsung.

As against this, Intercept is a mid range phone for physical keyboard wannabes on Android 2.1. We think, it will not have a 1Ghz processor like stuff and will have to do with TFT. But again, price matters with Intercept.

Samsung’s keeping an eye on both bid and high end markets.

  2. Thank you with regard to the info, I ‘m really looking forward to the Samsung Epic 4G, despite the fact that I have constantly been incredibly interested in cool gadgets, for a long time I have been looking for my first smartphone and I did not get it yet. The actual explanations are quite simple: each and every couple of months there is a revolution in the market (hard to decide!) and prices here in Brazil are really abusive. Maybe I would enter this world in great style with a Samsung Epic 4G. I hope so.

  3. Just acquired a Mythic for myself and will likely be obtaining a single for my wife quickly! It has just the correct mix of characteristics. just short of the full smartphone. I’m preserving an eye within the Captivate for any prospective long term cell phone..
.selling prices are way too great when released. I’ve been in substantial tech for 20+ many years and basically hack anything I personal to create it far better laptops, GPS, vehicle navigation devices, etc. and yes cell phones as well. Inside few days I’ve owned the cellphone I’ve previously set up Opera Mini, Bolt 2.1, freecaddie, Google Maps w/GPS functionality, deleted all locked useless apps soon after backing them up and fully modified the menu program to my exact requires with out all ineffective apps.
