The rumored Plus variant of the Samsung Galaxy S2 has shown up on the GLBenchmark website, and just like we found out in the AnTuTu benchmark it first appeared in, GLBenchmark confirms the Galaxy S2 Plus (GT-I9105) as sporting a PowerVR SGX544MP GPU, indicating that Samsung are using a OMAP 4470 processor inside.
Samsung also seem to be using the same chipset in the Galaxy Premier, which also appeared on GLBenchmark recently, so it could be that Samsung is working on multiple devices with the OMAP chipset inside, moving away from the less powerful ST-Ericsson NovaThor processors (used in devices like the Ace 2, Galaxy S3 Mini, etc). As for the display, GLBenchmark lists a resolution of 540 x 960 (qHD), which means that the Galaxy S2 Plus will be positioned somewhere between the high and mid-range Galaxy devices. The Android version is listed as 4.0.4, but we could see Android 4.1 out of the box when the device releases.
There is no other info available for the Galaxy S2 Plus, but we hope to see some more details leak out in the future. With a chipset such as the OMAP 4470 inside, one thing is for certain: the Galaxy S2 Plus won’t disappoint when it comes to performance, and when you’re talking about Android, that matters quite a lot.
