Although AMOLED display on a tablet isn’t anything new, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S still excites us a lot with its display and other super-specs. First things first, the above image is a first image we’ve seen so far that catches the display all lit up. A 10.5-inch AMOLED Android tablet surely excites us a lot, given the rumored spec-sheet especially.
Galaxy Tab S Specs
Display
It’s a 10.5″ Android tablet, with an AMOLED display. It’s not rumored to be Super AMOLED, at least yet, but nonetheless an exciting feature that would easily distinguish the Galaxy Tab S over iPad and other Android tablets (including those of Samsung itself).
Moreover, the resolution of the 10.5 incher is said to be 2560 x 1600 pixels, which makes it PPI score of 288, which is just great!
Processor
The Galaxy Tab S is no slouch. It would have a beast of a processor in 8-core Exynos 5420 chip, which will have 2 sets of 4-core 1.9GHz Cortex-A15 processor and 1.3GHz Cortex-A7 processor.
Camera
it doesn’t have a latest-in-flagship-phones kind of 13 to 20 megapixel camera, but an 8 megapixel camera would do just fine if you don’t feel it lame to click pics with an 10.5 inch gadget. Front camera of 2.1 megapixel is good for video chat and other such stuff, including a time-to-time selfie.
Android OS
Well, it’s said to come with Android 4.4 KitKat installed, and should get next two big updates of Android OS, it being one of the best devices of Samsung for this year.
Plus, Samsung will be definitely customizing the tablet with its own custom theme, called Magazine UX, aka bloatware.
Variants
Usually, a Samsung tablet comes in 3 variants: WiFi, 3G and LTE. And it looks no different for Galaxy Tab S either. Maybe Samsung would realise 3G version can be dropped, and thus may drop that. At least it’s so rumored. Worried?
Other Specs
There’s WiFi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy), GPS (GLONASS), LTE, Infra-Red blaster, etc. stuff.
And a fingerprint sensor that would let you do many things besides unlocking the device.
Galaxy Tab S Release Date
June 12, 2014. Mark that date if you are looking to buy an Android tablet.
That’s when we think Samsung would announce the Galaxy Tab S. And it should be available real soon after that.
