Following a slew of rumors and leaks, Samsung has announced the rugged Galaxy S6 Active. The device will be exclusive to AT&T and it will be available for sale starting from June 12.

As expected, the Galaxy S6 Active boasts of an active body and special features. The device is identical to the Galaxy S6 in terms of specifications as it flaunts a 5.1 inch Quad HD 1440p Super AMOLED display resulting in a pixel density of 577 pixels per inch. Powering the smartphone is a 64 bit octa core Exynos 7420 processor and 32 GB of non-expandable native storage space.

In terms of photography, the Galaxy S6 Active features a 16 MP main snapper at its back accompanied by a 5 MP front facing selfie shooter to help in video conferencing. The device is juiced up by a mammoth 3,500 mAh non-removable battery that can provide sufficient power to the rugged smartphone.

The Galaxy S6 Active features a quick launch action button on its left that will help in accessing the flashlight, compass and other aspects from the smartphone’s Activity Zone. Furthermore, the Galaxy S6 Active has the IP68 rating that makes the smartphone water and dust resistant. With this rating, the smartphone will be intact from damage caused when immersed under 1.5 meters of water for about 30 minutes. The device runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box.

The Galaxy S6 Active will be available in Gray, Camo Blue and Camo White color options for $199 on a two-year contract. Also, users can buy the device under the AT&T Next 24 plan for $23.17 per month for 30 months, for $28.96 per month for 24 months under Next 18 and $34.75 per month for 20 months under the Next 12 plan.
