Samsung has released a new firmware update for Galaxy S5 units. The update is hitting out the international variant of Galaxy S5, which is the model number SM-G900F.

The update which arrives as build number G900FXXS1CQAV brings with it the usual monthly security patches and is Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 5 units in Hong Kong have also started receiving the January security update. The Note 5 variant with model number SM-N9208 have reported receiving the OTA update as version number N9208XXS3BQA6.

Both the updates comes with bug fixes and they being the latest software updates for the two devices, it is recommended for users to download and install the same. However, two things need to be noted here. First, your phone’s battery should be over 50 percent charged and second, you need to get connected to a Wi-Fi network before initiating the download.

The update being OTA should hit your devices anytime soon, in case you haven’t received it already. If you are not willing to wait, you may go to Settings > About device > Download updates manually section to check for the update manually.
