AT&T has started rolling out a new update to Samsung Galaxy S5 Active. Arriving as build number G870AUCS2DPK3 and weighing in at around 27MB, the update includes Android security patches for the month of January.
The update is based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with kernel version 3.4.0-9723602. To be able to get this update via OTA, you must have the previously released G870AUCU2DPK2 firmware installed on your device.
As always, these things are being rolled out over-the-air in stages, so you may not have received the update notification yet. If that’s the case and you want those updates as soon as possible, then you may go to Settings > About device > Download updates manually section to check for the update manually.
On a side note, if you’ve ever wanted to get Nougat running on your Galaxy S5 Active, know that there are always ways to get the latest and greatest of Android unofficially via custom ROMs. You might want to check out our page Lineage OS download page for a Android 7.1.1 Nougat based ROM for Galaxy S5 Active.
