Yeah, it’s good to see the GT-i9260, also known as Galaxy premier, in the leak department again. After all, this is the phone that’s secretly said to be a quiet upgrade to the last Google phone, the Galaxy Nexus (GT-i9250) – and that’s obviously pretty enough on its own to hold breadth for everything regarding the GT-i9260.
But it’s also called Galaxy premier, and what’s even more puzzling is the presence of MSM7227 processor on the spec-sheet, since it has popped up yet again for the GT-i9260. MSM7227 is a single core old processor from Qualcomm, which was last seen doing its duty in mediocre devices like Samsung Galaxy Ace, HTC Wildfire S and other devices of such ilk.
So, that obviously can’t be powering a successor to 1.2 GHz dual-core processor equipped Galaxy Nexus, more so when other specs include an 8 megapixel camera (with 2 MP cam in front for video chat), 8/16 GB storage with microSD card support (much missed in original Galaxy Nexus), 4.65 inch HD display, GSM/WCDMA support and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, all in just 8.8mm thick body.
Moreover, the device was seen running the firmwares, i9260XXALI5 and XXALI6, the kind of names Samsung has awarded to its Jelly Bean firmware for Galaxy S3 and other devices.
So, either Galaxy Premier isn’t GT-i9260 or GT-i9260 isn’t Galaxy premier, for, MSM7227 does suit to any other phone from Sammy named as Galaxy Premier. But the Jelly Bean firmwares are Galaxy Nexus thing, fitting for GT-i9260.
The only thing I see fitting between this MSM7227 processor and Galaxy Nexus is that it’s a testing processor, to be replaced with a new dual-core (or hopefully, quad-core) processor when the device enters final stage – but even that’s not convincing at all. But you know, even the rumor mill believes the processor spec is low-credibility – see this as you want.
Anyways, the rumor also has it that one can expect the device to release in sometime Q4 this year.
