Samsung has now pretty much upgraded a good majority of its smartphones to Nougat and those which haven’t received the update yet are set to get it in the coming months. The Galaxy J7 2015 is now in line for the bump to Android 7.0 Nougat as the update just received certification from WiFi Alliance for the device. The handset’s model in question here is SM-J701M.

Galaxy J7 2015 turns two years old this month and having been released with Android 5.1 Lollipop, it has got to live through three iterations of Android. Hats off to you, Samsung! In addition to this variant of the Galaxy J7 2015, models SM-J701M/DS and SM-J701MT are also set to receive Nougat soon.

The rush to shift to Nougat within Samsung has died down a bit. We’ve now reached the stage of waiting for Android 8.0 to come out into the open in August. After this, OEMs will start distributing the Android 8.0 update to to their flagships first. Unfortunately, for Samsung devices, the current flagships only seem to have the highest possibility of receiving the update by this year.

As for the Galaxy J7 2015, we highly suspect that it will get to see Android 8.0 in its lifetime. Perhaps the modding community will help those users to achieve that goal.
