The Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime is receiving a new software update today. This update installs the February Android security patch on the smartphone. Just yesterday, the company started to rollout a similar security update for the Galaxy J7 Prime as well.
Those who own the Galaxy J5 Prime should definitely install this update. The build number for the update is G570MUBU1AQA3, and it is available as an OTA download. The update simply installs that latest security patch, nothing more.
The J5 Prime was announced in September last year and is a budget smartphone. It features a 5-inch display with a 720p resolution. Other specs include, a quad-core Exynos 7570 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 13MP rear camera, and a 5MP front shooter. There’s a 2400mAh battery to power it all and a fingerprint sensor up front.
The phone still runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, and don’t expect a Nougat update to be available anytime soon. We’re expecting the update to be available in the second half of 2017.
