Samsung has announced the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 smartphones that were circulating in leaks and rumors lately. These are the first smartphones from the firm to feature front facing LED flash giving importance to the selfie trend.
The Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 have been launched in China and they will be released in the country starting this week. As of now, there is not much information regarding the global availability of these smartphones.
Talking of the Galaxy J5, the smartphone boasts of a 5 inch display with a HD 720p screen resolution. It is powered by 64 bit quad core Snapdragon 410 processor. On the other hand, the Galaxy J7 features a 5.5 inch HD 720p display and employs a 64 bit octa core Snapdragon 615 processor. The Galaxy J5 is equipped with a 2,600 mAh battery, whereas its larger counterpart gets energized by a 3,000 mAh battery.
Otherwise, both the smartphones are identical in terms of specifications. The Galaxy J5 and Galaxy J7 make use of 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of native storage space that can be expanded further with the help of a micro SD card slot. They run on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system wrapped with the new TouchWiz UI launched alongside the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
When it comes to the imaging department, both the smartphones feature a 5 MP HD front facing selfie shooter with LED flash. Also, they boast of a 13 MP primary snapper at their back with an aperture of f/1.9.
The Galaxy J5 carries a price tag of 1,398 CNY (approx. $225) and the Galaxy J7 is priced at 1,798 CNY (approx. $289). They will be available in China in three color variants – black, white and gold.
