A new Samsung smartphone has been spotted on WiFi Alliance. The device listed as model number SM-J530FM/DS is the 2017 variant of Galaxy J5. From the WiFi Alliance listing we can make out that the Galaxy J5 (2017) will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box.
The Galaxy J5 2017 is successor to J5 (2016) which was launched in March last year. The device was launched with Android v5.0 Lollipop on-board and was later upgraded to Android v6.0 Marshmallow.
As such, the 2017 variant of J5 coming with Marshmallow does not get us too excited. Although, other specs have not been listed in the WiFi listings, going by the OS spec, it would be wise to keep our expectations low.
Still, an upgraded RAM and storage option with slightly better SoC are the least we can expect from Galaxy J5 (2017).
