As per the latest information, Samsung is all set to launch a modified variant of the Galaxy Grand Prime smartphone that is a best selling handset in the emerging markets all over the world.
The report suggests that this new version will be called the Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition. The rumors suggest that this device will make use of a 64 bit quad core Cortex A53 Marvell PXA1908 SoC instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor in the original.
This chipset has been used on the Galaxy XCover 3 that is an affordable and rugged smartphone that was launched in April 2014. This entry level Marvell chipset delivers lesser graphic performance when compared to that of the Snapdragon 410. The other change in the Galaxy Grand Prime Value Edition is that the device will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of its box.
Apart from the changes in the processor and OS, the Value Edition seems to be identical to the Galaxy Grand Prime in terms of specifications. The device flaunts a 5 inch display that carries a qHD screen resolution of 960×540 pixels and packs in 8 GB of storage space that can be expanded further using a micro SD card.
The Galaxy Grand Prime has an 8 MP main snapper at its back and a 5 MP wide angle front facer for selfies. The other aspects of the device include Bluetooth 4.0, LTE Cat.4, optional NFC and a 2,600 mAh battery.
The Galaxy Grand Prime VE SM-G531Y was spotted receiving the certifications in Taiwan. These documents do not mention anything regarding the specifications of the device. However, it has to be noted that there are not any changes in the design in comparison to the previous iteration.
