Samsung has just made its Galaxy Grand Neo Plus — what a name, eh! — official in India, for the price of INR 11,700. When you come to know the specs and features of this lengthy-named Android phone, you really get shocked — is it that Samsung still thinks there is no Xiaomi, Asus, Micromax or the like in this world, or it simply continues to ignore the offerings of these three companies that are far better than the Galaxy Grand Neo Plus is each and every corner of the spec-sheet?
Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo Plus Specs
It packs in a mediocre — even for a mid-range handset it is — 5.0″ TFT display tuned with resolution of 480 x 800 pixels (WVGA). Let’s just forget the PPI calculation here. Other Galaxy Grand Neo Plus specs include 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory (extendable to 64 GB using microSD card).
The mediocrity continues with cameras, you’d find 5MP at the back, and 2MP on the front. There’s 2100 mAh battery that supplies power to all these components to keep them kicking, and the Galaxy Grand Neo Plus measures 143.7 x 77.1 x 9.5 mm. Pretty thick brick if you ask us!
Lastly, the Galaxy Grand Neo Plus supports Dual SIM and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, and we think it would never get a taste of Lollipop, latest and sweetest Android update, 5.0. Connectivity wise, it supports, Bluetooth 4.0, USB 2.0, Wi-Fi, A-GPS and Wi- Fi Direct. There’s support for 2G and 3G networks, and nothing as regards 4G LTE.
Samsung’s TocuhWiz comes on top of KitKat and gets you additional features, including Smart Selfie and Palm Gesture for easy clicking.
Galaxy Grand Neo Plus Price
INR 11,700 !!! Really? That’s really absurd when you can get an Asus Zenfone 5 for INR 8,000, Micromax Yu Yureka for 8,999 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G for 9,999 — all of the three devices pack in better hardware and software than Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo Plus.

Whether you should buy it?
Well, it’s already pretty clear by now that Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo Plus is not worth at all at the price Samsung is asking — we would think twice even if Samsung offers it for the half the current price. And that sums it up.
You can better devices than Galaxy Grand Neo Plus anywhere you look. When Samsung brought down S3 Neo’s price, which is still over-priced — but still a better buy than Galaxy Grand Neo Plus at INR 12,500 because at least it features a Super AMOELD panel and 1.5GB RAM — we thought Samsung was finally paying correcting its unreasonable pricing strategy, but with the launch of Galaxy Grand Neo Plus, it couldn’t get more disgusting!
So, DO NOT buy this device. It’s inferior in looks, processor, RAM, software and even display — which is Samsung’s forte — when compared to the Asus Zenfone 5, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G and Yu Yureka to name a few.
