As per a report from SamMobile, Samsung is all set to launch a new smartphone called Galaxy A8 with the model number SM-A800F. It is said that like the other devices in the Galaxy A lineup this one will also arrive with an all metal build.
Lately, there were reports that Samsung registered for the Galaxy A6, Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A9 trademarks, but there were no specific leaks regarding the possible specs of the devices.
Now, the report citing insider information claims that the Galaxy A8 will be featuring a 5.7 inch Full HD 1080p display and draw power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with eight cores paired with 2 GB of RAM and Adreno 405 graphics unit. On the storage front, the Galaxy A8 is likely to be bundled with 16 GB of native storage space and get energized by a 3,050 mAh battery.
When it comes to dimensions, the Galaxy A8 is claimed to boast a thickness of 5.9 mm making it the thinnest smartphone launched by Samsung so far. As of now, it is the Galaxy A7 that holds this title as it boasts of a thickness of 6.3 mm.
In terms of imaging, the alleged Galaxy A8 is said to flaunt a 16 MP main snapper at its back and a 5 MP front facing selfie shooter. Anyways, being a mid-ranger, the Galaxy A8’s camera cannot match the 16 MP snapper on the high end devices such as Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Note 4.
The report goes on stating that the Galaxy A8 will run on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, but it is yet to be revealed if it runs on the new and improved TouchWiz UI that was launched with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.
