Samsung began upgrading the Galaxy S8 and S8+ to the latest Android 9 Pie update a couple of days ago and reports coming in thick and fast confirm that more markets in Europe and Asia are now receiving the stable One UI update.
The first market to get the nod was Germany and soon after, users of the S8 and S8+ in India started reporting the arrival of the One UI stable update. Now, we are seeing reports from Spain, Russia, Latvia, and Portugal, confirming that a wider rollout is on.
Galaxy S8 and S8+ users who took place in the beta program are receiving a rather small update that weighs under 500MB and this is for obvious reasons. After all, they already had Pie on their devices, hence the small update that brings the stable build as an incremental addition.
This group is also being served with a notice confirming the conclusion of the beta testing program, meaning no more beta updates and feedback.
As for those who weren’t taking part in the beta program, the OTA weighs in the regions of 1.6GB, so be sure to connect to a stable Wi-Fi connection before initiating the download. All regions are receiving the same DSBA build that was released in Germany alongside February 2019 security patches.
Next in line should be the U.S. market, but because of carriers, the wait for Pie on your S8 or S8+ could take you all the way to March 2019.
