Way back in December last year, we got news that Samsung was testing Android 7.1.1 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 Edge, but that never really materialized. That isn’t the case anymore as a GFXbench listing which showed up today reveals that Android 7.1.1 Nougat is being really tested on the S7 Edge.
But how do we know that it’s really under testing now? Well, because the listing denotes the OS as Android Samsung Edition (test-keys). As of now, almost all variants of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are running on Android 7.0 Nougat. With the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus now released, Samsung can now get back to keeping its device lineup up to date.
Though, if you were hoping for Bixby support on Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge with the Android 7.1.1 update, well, we don’t think your wish is gonna be true anytime in near future. Though, we do expect Bixby to arrive unofficially sometime later this year, perhaps in Q2.

The next iteration of Nougat could hit the device by Q2 this year. If Samsung plays its card right, we may even be able to see Android O pretty early on after its official release.
Let’s hope Samsung is able to quash the numerous bugs that are haunting the S7 users on Nougat update.
