What to know
- With the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 updates, Safari lets you easily trim downloaded videos within the app itself.
- Open the downloaded video preview and tap on the ‘Trim’ icon to start shortening the video.
iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 bring a convenient little feature to its native browser app, Safari. iPhone and iPad users with these new updates will be able to trim videos that they download without having to leave the browser app.
Upon downloading a video, open the video preview and use the trim icon to view the timeline. Drag the timeline inward and shorten the video. Tap ‘Done’ and ‘Trim Original’ and that’s it!
Although the same option is available from the Files manager video previewer, trimming videos from within Safari itself will make it easier to get the job done without switching apps. The videos saved on the device or on iCloud will be trimmed as well.
The feature is available on iOS 18 as well as iPadOS 18 whose larger screen would make it simpler to trim downloaded videos on Safari.
The new trim feature will allow you to ditch third-party apps if you’d been using them for trimming videos separately.
