Don’t jump on this one since it’s in very early rumor stage but we’re hearing that LG is prepping up an Android Tablet — called Optimus Pad — to give some serious push to its android lineup of devices.

LG hasn’t seen the same level of success with android so far, as its local rival Samsung has done. It really calls for something big from the LG and Tablet is one playing field in Android where the scope is maximum.

We’ve heard that Gingerbread (Android version 2.3) and Honeycomb (Android 3.0) are in development together at the Google quarters, so it is possible that we have the Honeycomb available in Q1 2011, and that’s when the tablet launch is slated.

Besides the charming Honeycomb, the tablet is also said to boast of nVidia’s 1 Ghz Dual core Tegra 2 processor which really makes us drool over the whole idea.

Regarding the size of the tablet, LG has taken a middle ground by keeping it to 8.9″ which falls between the iPad’s 9.7 inch and rival Samsung Galaxy Tab’s 7 inch (runs android 2.2, froyo), although more inclined towards the former.

So, what’s your opinion about the tablet? you think it got what it takes to be a dream android tablet? Or LG needs something big in the screen (that could challenge the Samsung’s Super AMOLED) like the Retina Display tech to make it a real hot shot the world is expecting on Android?
