No matter how much power a particular Android device may have, enthusiasts are always looking to extract just a little more power out of it. Overclocking is one of the most popular ways people choose to get more performance out of their device’s processor, with custom kernels often being able to overclock processors by quite a noticeable amount, specially when combined with undervolting.
Thanks to XDA Forum Member coolbho3000, you can now overclock your AT&T/Rogers One X’s dual-core Snapdragon MSM8960 S4 Krait processor up to 1.8 GHz. Using a kernel module, the processor can be set to custom voltages and frequencies, up to a maximum of 1.8 GHz. The best part about it is that it can work on rooted devices without needing one to unlock the device’s bootloader.
Take a look at the overclocking being demonstrated on the Rogers HTC One X in the video below:
The overclock module has been tested with the Rogers One X, but should also work with the AT&T One X and the One XL Asia models according to the developer. Also, it’s suggested for only experienced users to try, as the procedure is a little complicated. So just head over to the official XDA page for further details and to get some extra power out of the already powerful Snapdragon S4 processor. Do drop a line in the comments about how it works for you. Happy overclocking!
