Seasoned users of Snapchat on Android will know what a pain in the neck this app has been.
This is despite the numerous software updates the app has received over the years, but in the latest update, Snapchat for Android is receiving an overhaul that will see it begin receiving new features ahead of its iOS counterpart.
For the most part, the Snapchat app has always been slow in performance, making the whole experience of using it quite annoying. However, following an update that started rolling out yesterday, the company believes that Android users will enjoy a new, faster app that has been repurposed for them.

No, the app doesn’t look different from its predecessor from a visual perspective, but under the hood, plenty of changes do exist. It’s these changes that Snapchat says will bring parity between the features available for Android and iOS users and in some cases, the former will even get new features ahead of the latter. This hasn’t been the case, instead, Android users usually wait for weeks or months before a feature that was pushed to iPhone users arrives.
I haven’t used Snapchat for the longest time possible, so it makes sense that this isn’t getting me any excited. But if you are a long-time fan, these changes should be headed your way soon.
