The much-anticipated launch of the Redmi Note 5 is finally here and just like it was expected, Xiaomi has once again delivered what is gearing up to be another record-breaking phone.
No, we are not talking about the Redmi Note 5, rather, it’s the Redmi Note 5 Pro. Like the name suggests, the Note 5 Pro is a superior version of the standard Note 5 – and indeed it is. In addition to rocking some of the best hardware specs you can think of in the sub-INR 15,000 category, the Redmi Note 5 Pro also brings about a few cool additions to the budget Redmi series.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro becomes the first in the popular Redmi series to rock a dual-lens camera on the back. It looks pretty much like Apple’s iPhone X in terms of design, but that shouldn’t be anyone’s concern. The dual 12MP + 5MP is accompanied by a massive 20MP selfie shooter, which the company says supports Portrait Mode with much better results than iPhone X and Google Pixel 2.
How true this is can only be determined once we take the Redmi Note 5 Pro for a ride, but it’s worth noting that the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 was given a score of 90 by folks at DxOMark, an indicator that the Chinese OEM is capable of delivering great photography in phones.
Besides being the first to rock a dual-lens camera in the Redmi series, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is also the first to support the new Face Unlock feature. The Note 5 Pro is not only the first in the Redmi series to rock this facial recognition technology but also the first Xiaomi phone in history.
Once again, how good this facial recognition feature is can only be talked about after real-world tests.
The Redmi Note 5 Pro can be yours for INR 13,999 for the base model of 4GB RAM and 64GB storage while the high-end variant of 6GB RAM and 64GB storage will set you back INR 16,999. Availability begins on February 22.
