Xiaomi has been making many headlines lately, thanks to the growing popularity of its budget smartphones, CES 2015 and Xiaomi’s upcoming press conference on 15th January where the company is expected to release its new flagship, the Mi5 or Mi4S.

Earlier this week Xiaomi announced the successor to its Redmi 1S budget phone, the Redmi 2, and as scheduled, the device has went on sale in China today. One of the first retailer to get the device is SPE Mall, which also happens to ship internationally, so if you had wanted the Redmi 2 but couldn’t wait for it release in your part of the world then SPE Mall has got your covered here.

Xiaomi will be shipping the Redmi 2 to India, Singapore and Malaysia at sometime later this year. Because right now, the company is busy selling the Redmi 1S in these regions, matterfact registrations are going on for next flash sale of Xiaomi Redmi 1S on Flipkart in India.

Xiaomi’s strategy to release newer devices in India and other regions several months after launch in China is a disturbing trade. The Redmi 2 is out, but the company is still holding flash sales of the Redmi 1S in India and to make it even worse, the company has no intention to launch Redmi 2 anytime sooner in India.

Redmi 2 price is set at $154.99 at SPE Mall for the international buyers and the device is currently in stock so if you’re interested in getting it, you better act fast. Earlier today, the device went out of stock in 4 minutes in flash sale in China.
