In Where Winds Meet, 'Recipe's Heir' is an Encounter challenge that unlocks only after certain conditions are met. The challenge involves buying dishes from different vendors across Qinghe, consuming them, and starting the encounter with Boss Xie to cook Crispy Pheasant. Here's everything you need to know to get started.
Locations and How to Start
Unlike other quests and challenges, the Recipe's Heir quest requires you to buy 2 dishes from 5 different vendors in Qinghe region. Here are their locations:
Vendor 1 (Location): Heaven's Pier
There are two vendors in Heaven's Pier.
First, travel to Heaven's Pier using the teleport waypoint. The exact location of the two vendors is given below:
Go straight and find the first NPC Vendor - Yuan Xianxian - on your left.
Interact with the Vendor and select 'Let me have a taste'.
Buy the following to dishes:
- Hodgepodge Stew
- Braised Pork Belly Slices
Vendor 2 (Location) : Heaven's Pier
The second NPC Vendor - Yuan Tiantian - will be to the right of the first vendor.
Select "Let me have a taste" and then buy the two dishes:
- Pear Soup
- Honey Pear Ball
Vendor 3 (Location): Finesteed Hamlet
Find the Finesteed Hamlet Vendor in the location below:
The NPC Vendor is Li Daniang.
Buy the two dishes:
- Spicy Cheese Crisp
- Kumis Pastry
Vendor 4 (Location): Mercyheart Town
The Mercyheart Town NPC Vendor is found in the location given below:
The NPC vendor is Pan Mingrong.
Buy the two dishes:
- Seven's Flatbread
- Jujube Flatbread
Vendor 5 (Location): Harvestfall Village
Find the Harvestfall Village vendor in the location given below:
Find the Vendor Yan Fengzi.
From him, buy the dishes:
- Snail Meat
- Fried Snails
How to Start
Once you have all 10 dishes from the 5 vendors, go to Battlecrest Slope. The nearest waypoint is Northern Vow Ruins.
Open Menu > Bag > Consumable. Then select all the 10 dishes you've bought and Consume them.
As soon as you consume the final dish, the Recipe's Heir Encounter will get triggered.
Walkthrough
Step 1
Once unlocked, track the quest from the map.
Step 2
Make your way to the location and talk to Boss Xie.
Step 3
He will tell you to hunt and bring back a pheasant before you start learning how to make the Crispy Pheasant.
Step 4
Submit the pheasant to Boss Xie.
Step 5
Next, you have to mourn for the pheasant to show your gratitude. But to do so, you'll have to go away to a secluded area nearby.
Step 6
Bring the pheasant back to Boss Xie. Then observe what Mei Xingan is doing.
Step 7
Invite Boss Xie to taste the Crispy Pheasant.
And submit the Crispy Pheasant.
Step 8
Boss Xie will fall sick after tasting the Crispy Pheasant. Use Healers' Art to treat him.
Step 9
Select Indigestion as the illness to treat.
Step 10
Go through the healing cycle.
Step 11
After he's healed, Boss Xie will tell you to set up stall some other place. The nearest waypoint for that spot is Brewery Backyard.
Step 12
Get to the location (follow the marker) and set up stall.
Step 13
You will learn from a Wealthy Pheasant that the Crispy Pheasant he had once was laced with a sleeping potion.
Then interact with a beggar nearby.
Step 14
After the conversation with the beggar, return to Boss Xie. He won't be at the Tea Stall, so look for his traces at the table.
Trace his footprints using Wind Sense.
The conversation with Boss Xie will mark the end of Recipe's Heir, which - surprise, surprise! - is you!
