Seems like there’s a compatibility issue with Nova Launcher on the Android O Developer preview. Apparently, if you restore a backup file of your Nova Launcher settings from either a Marshmallow or a Nougat running device, to a device running on Android O, it’ll probably cause issues with the functioning of home key button on your device.
This only happens when you set Nova launcher as the default launcher on your Android O running device. Although, we didn’t find a direct fix for this but clearing the app data resolved the issue for us.

If you’re facing this issue too, here’s how you can delete Nova Launcher app data on your Android O running device, follow the instructions below:
- Go to Settings » Apps & notifications » App info.
- Select Nova Launcher from the list of apps.
- Select Storage from the App info page for Nova Launcher.
- Tap on CLEAR DATA, a cofirmation window will show up, select OK.
Nova Launcher should work fine now, but if you restore Nova settings back into your device using the backup file, the issue will show up again.
