Amazon wants to help you with how you catch up on your favorite shows with the introduction of X-Ray Recaps, an AI-powered feature integrated into Prime Video’s existing X-Ray interface. This new tool creates brief, personalized summaries that help you quickly get back into your shows without the hassle of rewinding or risking spoilers.
The technology behind X-Ray Recaps combines Amazon Bedrock and custom AI models trained on Amazon SageMaker to analyze video content, subtitles, and dialogue.
The system has been designed with specific guardrails to ensure summaries remain concise and spoiler-free.
At launch, the feature is exclusively available for Amazon MGM Studios Original series, including popular shows like “Daisy Jones and the Six,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” “The Wheel of Time,” and “The Boys”.
Adam Gray, vice president of product at Prime Video, emphasizes that this feature directly addresses a common streaming challenge: helping viewers remember where they left off in their favorite shows.
The beta version is currently rolling out to Fire TV customers in the United States, with plans to expand to additional devices by the end of 2024.
Users can access X-Ray Recaps through either the Prime Video detail page or during playback via the X-Ray experience.
