In Pokemon Pokopia, the basic Water Gun can feel a bit limited, but you can boost it significantly once you start cooking with fresh water and a pot. Here’s how to go about it.
Getting ready to cook with fresh water
Before you can upgrade Water Gun, you first need a way to cook. That means having a cooking pot available in your world and set up so you can interact with it. Once the pot is placed and usable, you can walk up to it and start a cooking interaction to combine ingredients into soup.

Water Gun requirements
Fresh water is the backbone of this method, and it must be included in the recipe if you want to boost Water Gun. On top of fresh water, you can add almost anything you have on hand, such as tomatoes.
How to cook soup that upgrades Water Gun
Step 1
Walk up to the cooking pot and interact with it to open the cooking interface so you can start combining ingredients.
Step 2
Select fresh water as the first and most important ingredient, since it is what enables the Water Gun power up effect.

Step 3
Pick any additional ingredient you like to fill out the recipe, for example tomatoes if you have a couple spare in your inventory.

Step 4
Place your chosen ingredient into the pot alongside the fresh water and proceed to cook the mixture into soup.

Step 5
Once done, eat the soup from your inventory.

As you do, your Water Gun becomes powered up as soon as the eating animation finishes.

How the powered up Water Gun helps your gameplay
Once you have eaten a soup made with fresh water, your Water Gun becomes stronger or more effective for your current play session. This upgrade lets you take care of watering tasks more efficiently, which is especially helpful in areas with a lot of dry tiles or plants to revive.
Because fresh water plus any extra ingredient can trigger the effect, you can repeat this method whenever you have more water and basic crops. That flexibility makes it easy to keep Water Gun powered up as you explore and continue building out your habitats.
