Good old Google continues to improve its services on Google Play, well, at least for US-based customers. Google now allows users to buy Play Store credits directly from the web version of the Play Store in addition to buying gift cards from a local store, making it quite a lot more convenient.
You can buy Play Store credit from as low as $5 up to $50, at various increments, which can then be used to buy apps and other content from Google Play. You cannot gift Play Store credit to others yet, though judging from the Google Play gift card support page, this is a temporary thing and gifting credit to others might be possible in the future.
The Google Play credit can be purchased by clicking the “Buy Play Store Credit” link at the bottom of any Play Store page. It is currently only available in the US, so for non-US Android users, nothing to do but pray that Google gets their act together and starts extending their services to other countries.
