How about the idea of sharing the pics you took from a point-and-shoot Digicam directly to instagram from that Digicam itself. Or editing those pics with the popular editing software like picsay pro, etc.? Well, this would soon turn out to be a reality if Nikon has its way, and it’s rumored S80C Coolpix series associated android based camera sees the light of the day.
According to reports, Nikon is preparing an android based digital camera, codenamed S80C, for cool people — you know what I mean (those who like Android and would definitely welcome it as their camera’s OS too, apart from phones and tabs) — and is said to be running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and happily compatible with Google Play apps. Quite interesting, right? And today, some shots of the S80C have leaked too, see the one at top.
It shouldn’t be a big deal here that it’s not Android 4.0 or Android 4.1 here, and that, presence of Android 2.3 indeed hints at the use of somewhat mediocre processor that Nikon would be looking forward to use in this camera since Gingerbread is anytime way less resource demanding than its successor versions, the Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and Jelly Bean (4.1). Moreover, it’s being a camera, and not a Nikon smartphone, it’s completely justified too. And a low processor is good enough to handle apps that camera users would be and should be looking forward to (picasa, picsay pro, etc.) and with Gingerbread there, non-compatibility wouldn’t pose an issue one bit.
So, the android based digital camera is cool, right? Would you buy it outright if its rest of the specsheet matches quite well with the non-android Nikon and non-Nikon cameras?
