It’s been nearly two months since the latest Android operating system version dubbed as Android Oreo was announced. However, until now, no smartphone other than the Pixel and Nexus handsets have received the official and stable Android Oreo update except the recently launched Sony Xperia XZ1 that comes pre-installed with Android Oreo. While OnePlus has at least taken an initiative and released the Oreo beta build for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, the stable version isn’t out yet.
HTC was among the first few OEMs to announce the list of devices, which included HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 that will receive Android Oreo, but we didn’t hear much about the release dates. Anyway, we have some good news.
According to HTC leaker LlabTooFeR, HTC is in the final stages of testing Android Oreo on HTC U11 device and if all goes well, HTC will start rolling out the stable Oreo build for HTC U11 by November end or early December.

Android Oreo will bring new features to HTC U11 such as picture in picture mode, revamped Settings, auto fill for apps, new emojis and a bunch of other exciting features.
HTC U11 could be the first device to receive Android Oreo update if OnePlus, Samsung and Nokia don’t release the stable build until then. For the unaware, Samsung is also working on an Oreo update for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ handsets and Nokia has also teased a beta build of Oreo update for Nokia 8. While Huawei has kept mum on the Oreo update, there is a beta Oreo build leak for Mate 9 by Huawei, that is doing rounds.
Meanwhile, HTC has started sending press invites for the launch event of a new phone. HTC is planning to announce a new handset on Nov 2. As of now, HTC hasn’t confirmed the name of the device, but HTC would either launch Android One edition of HTC U11 known as HTC U11 Life or the premium variant of HTC U11 known as HTC U11 Plus.

While the HTC U11 Plus is rumored to feature a 6-inch bezel-less display, the HTC U11 Life will come with a regular screen. Although HTC U11 Life will receive Android Oreo soon as it is an Android One phone, HTC U11 Plus is rumored to come pre-installed with Android 8.0 Oreo.
