Oppo R5 was launched today by the company for a price of INR 29,990. Oppo R5’s main selling point is its thickness — it’s ultra slim at 4.85mm, and even undercuts the highly advertised at the moment, Gionee Elife S5.1, still slimmest in the mid-range devices.
Oppo R5 price is set at INR 29,990, which makes it battle with many high end phones such as Samsung Galaxy S5, Moto X 2 Gen, Sony Xperia Z1, LG G Pro 2, etc. In its segment, Oppo R5 is the slimmest of course, but by far margin. All other devices are around 8-10 mm thick.
To complement the slim and smart looks, Oppo R5 comes with a spec-sheet that’s very promising. Oppo R5 is powered by 64-bit Octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 GPU, loaded with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage, a gorgeous 5.2″ FHD AMOLED display (423 PPI) and cool 13MP Sony camera with aperture of very impressive f2.0, and 5MP front camera, among other things.
Oppo R5’s 13MP camera can record slow-motion videos @ 120 fps on HD resolution, while Full HD normal recording is also supported.
Other Oppo R5 specs include a battery of 2000 mAh, which comes with rapid charge ability — VOOC mini Rapid Charger — that let’s you restore 75% battery in just 30mins. Moreover, a 5min charge is capable of 2 hours of talktime. That why even though battery isn’t quite large, it should hold good.
Android 4.4 comes pre-installed on Oppo R5, with Oppo’s own ColorOS 2.0 custom UI atop it.
Oppo R5 isn’t exactly light at 155 grams, and is quite large too, longer and wider than the Galaxy S5. But since it’s slim, it wouldn’t feel that much.
Oppo R5 supports single SIM only (GSM), and also supports LTE. Other Oppo R5 features include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/a, WiFi-direct, Wi-Fi Display, GPS, etc. The O-Music accessory doesn’t come in the box and you have to buy it separately.
