Oppo just announced the Oppo R11 and the Oppo R11 Plus in China, but a new leak shows that another “R” device is in the works.
The device is named the Oppo R17, and leakster @mmdj_china, known for his leaks on the Chinese Galaxy S8 6GB RAM variants in weeks past, as well as the Galaxy S5 Pro and C7 Pro, and even the first live photo of the dual rear camera Oppo R11, is back with what is likely the very first leak of the Oppo R17.
The Oppo R17 reference comes from what appears to be a retail box of the phone, with the moniker “Oppo R17” clearly shown, the color “Black” indicated, and an IMEI number starting with the numbers “865” showing before the numbers taper off due to the photo cutout.
@mmdj_china doesn’t give away too much, but we know that the model has a moniker (even if a basic one) and that Black is one of the colors. The IMEI number indicates that the device is real, since prototype phones lack IMEI device numbers.
We don’t know anything else about the Oppo R17, but it may just prove to be an updated version of the Oppo R11 with better specs while retaining the dual rear camera setup of the Oppo R11. Could there be an Oppo R17 Plus around the corner? There’s a box lying around, just waiting to become the star of @mmdj_china’s next phone leak.
