OnePlus announced today that its Watch 3 smartwatch will launch on February 18 in North America and Europe. The new wearable promises up to 5 days of battery life in smart mode, a significant bump from its predecessor's 100-hour limit.

The OnePlus Watch 3 utilizes a dual-chip architecture, pairing Qualcomm's Snapdragon W5 with a new BES2800 efficiency chip. This setup, combined with a larger 631mAh battery using OnePlus' Silicon NanoStack technology, enables the extended runtime. Users can squeeze out up to 16 days in power-saving mode, though with reduced functionality.

OnePlus is emphasizing the Watch 3's premium design, featuring a titanium alloy bezel and sapphire crystal display. The device will be available in two colors: Emerald Titanium and Obsidian Titanium.

A key upgrade is the addition of a functional rotating crown, addressing a limitation of the previous model. OnePlus says this will allow for more intuitive navigation through the Wear OS interface.

"With the ability to both press and rotate, the rotating crown makes navigating through apps and menus efficient and intuitive – and ultimately the user experience even better."— Celina Shi, OnePlus Europe CMO

The Watch 3 retains the rapid charging capabilities of its predecessor, with OnePlus claiming a 10-minute charge provides a full day of use. While pricing details are still under wraps, the company is offering a $30 discount for early registrations.

OnePlus' latest wearable enters a competitive landscape dominated by the likes of Samsung and Google. With its focus on extended battery life and premium design, the Watch 3 aims to carve out a niche among Android users seeking a long-lasting smartwatch option.
