You will now be able to flash the latest official TWRP recovery on a bunch of newly supported Xiaomi Redmi smartphones. TWRP has just added support for the Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi Note 5A Prime, Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite.
If you have any of these devices, you can download the official TWRP recovery from the links at the end of this page. You should know that before you flash the recovery, you will need to unlock the bootloader on your device.

There are two ways to install the TWRP recovery on your device. You can either do it the root way, which involves download an app from the Play Store and simply flashing TWRP on your device. This can only be done if your device is already rooted. If your device isn’t rooted, then you will have to use the fastboot method to install TWRP.
Only do this if you know what you’re doing. You can follow our guide here if you aren’t too sure about the steps. Also, do not install these TWRP images on any other non-compatible Xiaomi device.
