Nexus fans in the UK would have been disappointed when it was announced earlier that the Nexus 4, Google’s latest Android 4.2 touting baby, would remain an O2 exclusive for a month from its release on November 13th. Of course, O2 was offering a pretty sweet deal for customers who were willing to purchase it from them, albeit at a premium.

The first 100 buyers of the Nexus 4 from O2 were to get a free LG TV, and O2 is also to let brave users climb to the top of the O2 Arena in Greenwich, where they would be able to buy the Nexus 4 while overlooking the London skyline. Talk about selling it in style, eh?.

Well, it turns out that O2 has another gift for us, and that the premium price was probably well worth it. It was originally assumed that the O2 Nexus 4 would be SIM-locked to O2’s network, but users lucky enough to get the device from O2, have started reporting that the phone is fully unlocked and works just fine with other operators as well! All one needs to do is swap out the pre-installed O2 SIM card and replace it with a different one, and it’s good to go. You can hit the Via link below to check out what first-hand users are saying.

Of course, O2 is yet to release an official statement confirming this, but that again would just be a formality, considering folks who actually have the device in their hands have tested it with multiple SIM cards, and swear that it is indeed SIM unlocked. Nice stuff there, O2. A free LG TV, a climb to the top of the O2 arena, and now a fully unlocked phone – what more could one ask for?
