Barnes & Noble has started taking pre-orders for their affordable Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets in the UK, with shipping to start from November 22nd. The Nook HD has been priced at £159/£189 for the 8/16GB models, while the Nook HD+ costs £229/£269 for the 16/32GB models.
The Nook HD sports a 7″ display with a resolution of 1440×900 pixels (higher than any other 7-inch tablet), along with a 1.3GHz dual-core TI OMAP4470 processor, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi connectivity, microSD storage expansion, dual stereo speakers enhanced with SRS TruMedia audio, and a 4,050 mAh battery that provides up to 10.5 hours of reading time or 9 hours of HD video playback.
The Nook HD+ carries a 9″ display with a Full HD (1920 x 1280 pixels) resolution, 1.5GHz OMAP4470 processor, and a larger 6,000 mAh battery (up to 10 hours video playback and 9 hours reading time), with the rest of the specs remaining the same as the Nook HD. Both tablets run Barnes & Noble’s heavily customized version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, with support for a plethora of e-book file formats.
