Nokia N1 is an Android powered tablet from the division of Nokia that isn’t owned by Microsoft. The company has launched the tablet in China today in an event in Beijing and is priced CNY 1,599 which converts to $260.

The Nokia N1 is 7.9 inch with a display resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, it’s powered by Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core CPU clocked at 2.3 GHz and 2GB RAM. The tablet boasts a 5,300 mAh battery along with 32GB of on-device storage. As for the camera, the Nokia N1 has a 8MP camera on the back and a 2MP on front.

Nokia N1 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the Box with the company’s own Z Launcher atop. We’re yet to see more of the tablet to tell you how much Nokia has gone to skin the stock Android experience.

Nokia N1 Benchmarks

Benchmarks though are already out for the Nokia N1 and thanks to the Intel’s powerful chipset, the N1 beats the device it’s targeted towards the most, the iPad Mini 3. The Nokia N1 scores 45,121 in CPU test while the iPad Mini 3’s score is 28,446. Also, the image processing test for the N1 goes as 12,623, while the same test on iPad Mini 3 results to 10,102.

Nokia N1 clearly beats the iPad Mini 3 if we go by the benchmarks, but note that these two devices belong to very different ecosystems. Android requires far more hardware power than iOS does, and hence benchmarks are going to be in favor of Android, but that doesn’t mean iPads under-performers. Apple heavily integrates iOS with hardware used on its devices, so in real life, iPad mini 3 might actually beat the Nokia N1 in performance, gaming and everyday things like the battery life. But again, Nokia N1 is powered by Android, which itself makes a win over iOS and thus the iPad mini 3.
